ADMISSION POLICY

Families interested in information regarding St. John the Evangelist School are encouraged to contact Angie Buchanan in the Admissions Office at (219) 365-5451 ext 262. One-on-one guided tours and shadow days can be scheduled through the Admissions Office.

AGE REQUIREMENT

In accordance with Indiana Department Guidelines, preschool and kindergarten students must be the required age (three, four or five years old) on or before August 1st of the respective year for the class for which they are registering.

ADMITTANCE TESTING

Prior to the admittance of a child in grades K-8 at St. John the Evangelist School, the administration shall have the right to test the student in any subject and/or to require a written recommendation from the teacher at the prior school. Test results will be used to place a child in a proper grade level and will determine acceptance or non-acceptance into the established curriculum. The test alone would not determine acceptance or non-acceptance. The Admissions Office looks at the whole picture of the student including standardized tests, previous grades and teacher recommendations.

CHOICE SCHOLARSHIP

SJE participates in the Indiana Choice Scholar Program. To learn more about the scholarship opportunities please contact Angie Buchanan, Admissions Director.

St. John the Evangelist School has been established to meet the spiritual, educational, and social needs of our students. Although meeting the spiritual needs of Catholic students in the parish community is our primary focus, enrollment in the school is open to all students regardless of race, ethnic origin, or religious affiliation. St. John the Evangelist provides a challenging learning program for students with average to above average abilities. Because the school does not receive federal or state funding to help with direct special education services, this Catholic school is able to provide only limited services for students with diagnosed disabilities.
